Our neighborhood is a haven in what can sometimes be a chaotic city, and within that haven, situated on Warren Street, is yet another haven: Open House. Since we first opened our doors in 1972, we’ve ushered more than 4,000 children into the world of education and look forward to welcoming many more. In our continued efforts to provide the optimum nursery school experience, we reach out to our friends and families and ask that you consider contributing to our Annual Fund.

Open House Nursery School has been serving Brooklyn families for over 50 years and is more committed than ever to protecting every child’s right to a joyful, unhurried childhood. At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that children learn best by playing and doing in a thoughtfully prepared environment. We believe in the possibility, the dreams, and the laughter of every young person, and we strive to give each child an appreciation for her own uniqueness and for the uniqueness of others.

Because—unfortunately—tuition alone cannot provide all of the incredible resources we offer our children, the purpose of the Open House Annual Fund is:

To enrich our program by providing specialized instruction in yoga, music, dance, gymnastics and science.

To help purchase equipment that challenges, delights and nurtures all of our children’s growth, including those who have special needs.

And finally, to increase the total amount of financial aid the school offers. With the changing fabric of our community, our commitment to Brooklyn’s rich cultural and socio-economic mix is stronger than ever. We are proud to be one of the few preschools in the neighborhood to provide financial aid. Part of our mission is to support families with limited income, as well as those who may encounter a sudden unexpected economic downturn.

Your tax-deductible gift is needed to keep Open House strong and growing for many years to come. Please give what you can: $50 buys finger paints and paper; $250 provides a visit from a highly qualified Teaching Artist; $500 pays for a class field trip, and $15,000 grants a child-in-need one year’s tuition and an educational foundation that will last a lifetime.

We appreciate your support in these difficult economic times, and we assure you the children—whether they’re dancing around to Phyllis’s ukulele or riding a school bus on a trip to see the Nutcracker—appreciate it too.
