Child Development Discussions
Executive Director, Tom Cucinotta, and Education Director, Krista Bogetich, join Open House families in conversation on topics important to our community.
Academic Foundations 11/16/22
As we lead young children toward academic success, we need to spend the majority of our efforts building strong “Approaches to Learning” along with the more traditional skills that involve literacy, math, science, arts and social studies. What does that mean? What does that look like? Tom and Krista joined Open House parents in a discussion of how the activities and structures of an early childhood classroom build foundational academic skills through an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Social Emotional Foundations 10/7/22
In the same way we rely on seasonal patterns in our lives, children rely on the patterns and predictability of their schedules along with interpersonal interactions to help manage themselves during the emotional highs and lows of their day. In conversation with Open House families, Tom and Krista discussed the social and emotional skills that we work on in the preschool environment and the underlying conditions needed for children to be ready for that work.
